Gonzalo Higuain insists he is happy at Real Madrid.

The Argentine international is one of the key members of the Bernabeu side, but he is at loggerheads with the club’s paymasters about a new deal.

Higuain reportedly wants parity with some of the higher earners in Los Blancos squad, and Manchester City are waiting in the wings in the event this offer is not made.

However, the 22-year-old, who is set to star at the World Cup Finals, has shrugged off the interest from Eastlands, insisting he wants to stay at Real.

“I'm happy here,” said Higuain. “The renewal is up to my agent. I try not stick my head in matters that may mislead and less now, we are at an important stage in the season."
