Hodgson denies Fulham Euro hangover
07:52 PM 21 March, 2010
Roy Hodgson is refusing to blame a Europa League hangover on Fulham Football Club’s 2-1 home defeat on Sunday afternoon.

The Londoners produced one of the best performances of their history on Thursday night, when they beat Juventus 4-1 to reach the last eight of the Europa League.

Hodgson’s side were brought back down to earth on Sunday when they crashed to Manchester City 2-1, but the Craven Cottage boss is refusing to use his players European heroics as an excuse.

"We were playing against one of the top teams in the country, a team that's been very expensively put together,” Hodgson told Sky Sports. “So we knew we were in for a tough game.

“And it did come three days after one of our greatest nights. But I don't think that was the whole reason why we lost. We lost because we conceded two bad goals from poor defending.”
