Brilliant Brazilian shines for Manchester City
Robinho was the hero of the day for Manchester City Football Club on Sunday.
The £32.5million signing from Real Madrid was in terrific form for the Blues, hitting a hat-trick against Stoke City to give the home side a 3-0 win over the Premier League new-boys.
"It's great for him and I'm really pleased," said boss Mark Hughes. "It wasn't a worry because he's a top player, you just hope that he settles as quickly as possible.
"The other Brazilians and the other guys in the dressing room have really helped him in that respect, and everybody's made him feel at home very quickly.
"That shows in his playing and he enjoys the adulation he gets from the crowd here as well. What he gives us is an appreciation of where everybody is on the pitch and an appreciation of passing.
"Players see his quality on the ball and try to replicate it so all-in-all it brings the team to another level and we need to keep on developing. At times our play was as good as I've seen for quite some time.
“We always looked a threat on the break. It was a great day and it could have been six or seven in fairness, and that's no disrespect to Stoke City.
"You struggle to enjoy it when it's happening because you're always thinking the worst as a manager. But even I could allow myself a little bit of a smile on occasions because the quality was so good today.
“What we have to do is produce it on a consistent basis. We were much better defensively - not just as a back four but as a team - and I was pleased with that.
"If we're going to win consistently, that's what we have to have. We've got a difficult game on Wednesday at Middlesbrough and if we can get back-to-back wins that'll put us in decent shape."
