Benjani will not be playing for Sunderland Football Club next season.

The Zimbabwean spent the second half of the 2009-2010 season on loan at the Stadium of Light, but he failed to find the back of the net at his temporary club.

Out of favour at Manchester City, Benjani is available on a free transfer this summer, but Steve Bruce is not going to offer the 31-year-old a return to Wearside.

“Benjani was a good loan signing for us at the time because we needed cover in case of injuries," he said. “In the end, he didn't play many games for us.”
