Birmingham City Football Club are set to make a move for Andy Carroll.

The Newcastle United striker enjoyed a fine campaign during 2009-2010, in which he helped the club secure an instant return to the Premier League.

Despite finances being tight at St James Park, Chris Hughton insists he will not entertain the idea of cashing in on Carroll, who is rated by some as a future England international.

However, the Daily Mail claims Alex McLeish is set to test the resolve of the Tyneside club during the summer window, as he looks to add more firepower to his Blues options.
