Nottingham Forest are ready to swoop for Nicky Shorey.

The one-time England international is out of favour at Aston Villa under Martin O’Neill, who sent him on loan to the City Ground, as well as Fulham, last season.

Villa are willing to listen to offers for the former Reading star during the summer window, and the Daily Star Sunday claim he could be on his way back to Nottingham.

It is believed Forest manager Billy Davies has made Shorey a top target as he launches another attack on promotion to the Premier League, and will bid £3million for his signature.
