John Utaka admits he was surprised to start for Portsmouth Football Club on Wednesday.

The Nigerian winger has endured a frustrating campaign for Pompey this season, but he was included in Tony Adams' first side against Liverpool in the 1-0 loss at Anfield.

"I was a bit taken when I got the chance," Utaka told The News.

"It happened quickly. I was trying to get over it but I was a little bit surprised."
