Shola Ameobi is full of praise for interim Newcastle United Football Club boss Joe Kinnear.

The appointment of the former Wimbledon boss was hardly met with enthusiasm by the Toon Army, but Ameobi has certainly benefited after being given a central role since his arrival.

"Joe's come in and put self-belief back into my game and put my career back on track. I have to say it's great for me to be back out there working hard and playing well," he told the Newcastle Chronicle.

"He's shown that belief in me, and it's great for me personally."
