Redknapp shines as Tottenham stun Reds
Harry Redknapp was naturally delighted with his Tottenham Hotspur Football Club players on Saturday.
Spurs went down to an early Dirk Kuyt goal, but a Jamie Carragher own-goal and a late winner from Roman Pavlyuchenko gave them a stunning 2-1 win over Liverpool.
"It was a difficult game against such a good side. They're hard to play against, closing the space down,” said Redknapp. "In the first half we couldn't get the ball to Vedran Corluka, who was playing in the hole, because they fill up that midfield so well.
"The only way to pass was back to our centre halves. We decided to change it at half-time and play with two strikers and be more direct. In the second half we rode our luck.
“We kept going and when that happens you get your rewards. I said to the players at half-time that we had that ability to score. When Liverpool are in front it's very hard to get anything out of them.
“So I tried to put some belief into the lads and told them to keep going."
