James rejects Sunderland opportunity
David James has snubbed a move to Sunderland Football Club.
An injury to regular number one Craig Gordon has forced manager Steve Bruce to look for another goalkeeper, and he was keen to take England international James.
The 39-year-old is available on a free transfer this summer following the expiry of his Portsmouth contract, and he has expressed a desire to return to the Premier League.
However, The People claim James has snubbed a move to the Stadium of Light as he was only offered a short-term deal, whereas he is looking for more security.
Tottenham Hotspur and former club West Ham United have also been linked with the veteran shot-stopper, whilst Pompey remain hopeful of persuading him to stay at Fratton Park.
