Roberto Mancini claims to be unsure who his number one is at Manchester City Football Club.

Due to the presence of Republic of Ireland international Shay Given, Joe Hart was allowed to spend last season on loan at Birmingham City where he produce some fine displays.

The England star is now back at Eastlands and could start the season with the jersey, but only because his rival faces a race against time to recover from a shoulder injury.

Mancini claims to be undecided about which of the two will become his main number one choice, and has indicated much will depend, simply, on who is in the better form.

“Joe Hart will be first-choice goalkeeper for the next 10 years for England," said the Italian coach. "I don't know if he will be my first-choice, it depends. I will pick the players who deserve to play.

“At the start of the season I will decide who is number one. Shay is not fit at the moment. He is not 100 per cent ready to go in goal but we must wait and be patient.”
