Liverpool Football Club have been told Maynor Figueroa won’t be sold this summer.

Although the recapture of Fabio Aurelio, and the collapse of Emiliano Insua’s move to Fiorentina, has eased the Reds left-back worries, they remain interest in Figueroa.

Last week the agent of the Honduran international claimed a move to Anfield was almost complete, but Wigan Athletic insist he won’t be sold this summer.

“I’m sure he will play for one of the great teams but I don’t think that will be in this transfer market,” said Roberto Martinez, the DW Stadium coach.

“Maynor Figueroa still has room for improvement here at Wigan Athletic, and for him to leave before then may well be the wrong decision.”
