Birmingham City Football Club will shortly begin talks to sign Martin Jiranek.

Alex McLeish remains keen to bolster his back four before the window slams shut, and the Spartak Moscow defender is travelling to England on Monday.

The 31-year-old has rejected a new contract offer with his current club, who are now looking to offload him for a nominal fee.

Jiranek is a Czech Republic international, who has been plying his trade in Russia since 2004 when he joined from Italian outfit Reggina.
