Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have not made an approach for Ashley Young.

After clinching their place in the UEFA Champions League group stages, the Londoners have been heavily linked with an £18million move for the England international.

However, Aston Villa caretaker boss Kevin MacDonald has denied reports Harry Redknapp has been in touch regarding the 25-year-old, who he hopes to keep in the Midlands.

"We've not had any contact from Tottenham for Ashley Young, nothing at all. We've not had any bid from them at all,” said the Villa boss. "Clubs are going to be coming in for some of our top players.

"They have shown some great form at the start of this season. I would like to think the club wouldn't sell them but who knows. If it was down to me, I wouldn't sell them."
