Eidur Gudjohnsen could well feature against Aston Villa Football Club next Monday.

The 31-year-old joined Stoke City from Monaco on transfer deadline day, but he admits missing pre-season has naturally affected his current level of fitness.

However, Potters manager Tony Pulis has revealed that Gudjohnsen could feature against Villa when their Premier League campaign resumes, either from the start or off the bench.

"Although Eidur has a bit of catching up to do, he is a fantastic professional," he told his club's official website. "You have to be to play at the highest level and enjoy the success he has.

"It will depend on the amount of work we can do with him which will determine whether he starts the Aston Villa match or whether we put him on the bench."
