Cahill tells Capello: You can count on me!
Gary Cahill insists he is ready to answer England’s call on Tuesday night.
The Bolton Wanderers defender earned his first cap for his country on Friday night, when he came off the bench to replace the injured Michael Dawson in the 4-0 win over Bulgaria.
The Tottenham Hotspur man has been ruled out for eight weeks so joins the likes of John Terry, Rio Ferdinand and Ledley King on the treatment table.
Cahill has now told Fabio Capello he is ready to line-up alongside Phil Jagielka on Tuesday, when England take on Switzerland in their second Euro 2012 qualifying clash.
"From the time you are a little lad you strike to play for your country, so why not put me in against Switzerland? I'm ready for it definitely,” he told The People.
"I've come on and played, made that debut and that's a big thing after constantly thinking, 'when's it going to come?' I hope to be in the England set-up for years to come."
