VDV had little time to decide on Tottenham Hotspur move
07:00 PM 05 September, 2010
Rafael van der Vaart admits he had little time to make his mind up over a move to Tottenham Hotspur Football Club on transfer deadline day.

The Dutch international has revealed his first option this season was to remain at Real Madrid, where he was willing to fight for his place under Jose Mourinho.

However, once it became apparent that the 27-year-old was surplus to requirements, he set his sights on a transfer and clinched an £8million move to Spurs in the nick of time.

Van der Vaart admits the move to White Hart Lane was sudden, and although he had little time to make up his mind, he is hopeful he made the right choice.

"During the summer I had many offers from big European clubs, but my challenge was to play for Real Madrid and work with Jose Mourinho,” he told The People.

"After the club confirmed I was no longer in their plans, the best solution was to leave. Tottenham were interested for some time but it wasn't feasible until the last moment.

"The offer arrived on Tuesday morning and I had little time to decide, but I hope I have luck in my new adventure. My wife supported the choice and we are prepared for the change.

"I have played many matches against Premier League clubs and the quality is enormous. I hope Spurs are successful but, for now, all I can promise is hard work.”

I really think that Harry got himself and the fans/supporters one huge diamond in Rafeal v/d Vaart. Harry always know what he wants and I think the must make more money availlable for him for the January transfer period.
