Giuseppe Rossi admits he is keen to leave Villarreal and return to Italy.

The American-born Italian international is a product of the Parma youth academy, but he left for Manchester United before making their first team.

Rossi impressed at Old Trafford but couldn’t command a regular first team place, and was loaned out back to his former club and also Newcastle United.

In the summer of 2007 the 23-year-old joined Spanish outfit Villarreal on a permanent basis, but he is now ready to return to Serie A in the New Year.

“I really hope it can happen,” said Rossi. “For me any club will do.” The important thing is I am hoping to return to Serie A as soon as possible.”

Juventus and Fiorentina have in the past been linked with the striker, who earlier this summer ruled out a future return to United.
