Harper predicts rollercoaster ride for Newcastle United
06:30 PM 12 September, 2010
Steve Harper insists there will be no knee-jerk reaction following Newcastle United Football Club’s shock defeat at St James Park on Saturday.

The Magpies started the season with a 3-0 loss at Manchester United, before bouncing back in style to knock six past Aston Villa without reply before drawing at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

On Saturday United were expected to beat Blackpool, but despite going down 2-0 to their fellow top-flight rivals, their goalkeeper is refusing to panic.

“Over the years, there has been too much of a rollercoaster," said Harper. "After Aston Villa, we were probably going to finish in the top eight. Now people will be mentioning the 'R' word.

"But we won't be doing that. We know we will win games that we are not expected to and in this league, you can lose games that you are expected to win.”
