Newcastle United confirm Harper blow
Newcastle United Football Club have confirmed Steve Harper faces three months out of action.
The 35-year-old goalkeeper was carried off on a stretcher after damaging his shoulder during the 1-0 win at Everton on Saturday, which lifted the Magpies into sixth position.
Harper has undergone surgery to correct the injury and is set to be sidelined for twelve weeks, meaning young Tim Krul will take his place between the posts in the meantime.
A statement on the club's official website said: "Following a shoulder ligament injury sustained in United's game against Everton, Steve Harper undergone a successful operation on Wednesday. It is likely Steve will be unavailable for selection for a period of around 12 weeks."
