Garry O’Connor hopes to sign a new deal at Birmingham City Football Club.

The Scottish striker has battled back from a lengthy injury-lay off caused by a hip problem, and impressed during the 2-0 win over Blackpool on Saturday.

O’Connor was handed a six-month deal at St Andrews in the summer with the challenge to prove his fitness, and he hopes to be playing his way to an extended contract.

“Nothing is being said at the moment about a new contract,” said the 27-year-old. "The gaffer has got faith in me. It is just about people upstairs at the club.

"I would love to stay at Birmingham. It's a fantastic club and I've enjoyed my time here and hope it can continue. I've got to keep my head down and keep working hard.”
