Aston Villa consider Santa Cruz rescue act
Aston Villa Football Club are set to make a move for Roque Santa Cruz.
The Paraguayan international made a huge impact in England when he joined Blackburn Rovers in 2007, which led to a £17.5million move to Manchester City last summer.
However, the 29-year-old has really struggled for form and fitness at Eastlands, and he is now well down the pecking order under Roberto Mancini.
The Italian coach is prepared to offload the striker when the window reopens, and The People claim Gerard Houllier could be about to swoop.
The Villa boss is eager to land a new frontman when the window reopens, and he could initially try and take Santa Cruz to the Midlands in a loan deal.
