Liverpool gamble on Israel frontman
Liverpool Football Club are lining up an offer for Itay Shechter.
Roy Hodgson wants to sign a new striker when the window reopens, as he looks to ease some of the goalscoring pressure currently heaped on Fernando Torres.
According to The Herald, the Reds boss has taken a liking to Israel international Schechter, who has scored an impressive 30 goals in 54 league games for Hapoel Tel Aviv.
West Ham United and Celtic were also linked with the 23-year-old in the summer, but Hodgson will be confident of luring the £3million-rated forward to Anfield.
