Newcastle United Football Club will bid for Jose Font in the New Year.
New Magpies boss Alan Pardew is well aware of the capabilities of the Portuguese defender, who he signed for Southampton last January.
According to The Sun he now wants to sign the 26-year-old for a second successive winter, and is prepared to pay his former club £1.5million to do just that.
Font, who is set to double his wage if the move goes through, has made sixteen appearances in League One this season, and has chipped in with four goals.
The former Crystal Palace man could well be brought in to replace Steven Taylor, 24, who is out of contract in the summer but being tipped to leave in January.
