Lacina Traore has been linked with a move to Aston Villa Football Club.

Gerard Houllier is prepared to offload John Carew during the January transfer window, as the Norwegian is in the final six months of his contract in the Midlands.

It is believed the French coach wants to replace the 6ft 4in hitman with uncapped Ivorian youngster Traore, who stands even taller at a huge 6ft 8in.

The 20-year-old is currently plying his trade in Romania with FC Cluj, but he has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past, most recently at Blackburn Rovers.

Traore is rated by his present employers at a steep £8million, but it is believed Houllier is confident he can strike a deal for the youngster at around £5million.
