Celtic Football Club are said to be closing on a deal for Abdoulaye Meite.

Due to the injury problems Neil Lennon currently has to contend with, he is keen on signing at least one defender before the 11pm deadline.

It is believed the Bhoys boss is close to agreeing a loan deal for Meite, who is well down the pecking order for a place in the West Bromwich Albion side.

Lennon is also believed to be interested in another Premier League performer, namely Abdoulaye Faye of Stoke City.
