Aston Villa Football Club are said to be interested in Paul Robinson.

With Brad Friedel expected to quit the Midlands club in the summer when his contract expires, Gerard Houllier is in the market for a new goalkeeper.

It is believed Villa have set their sights on Robinson, who has rediscovered his best form since leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Blackburn Rovers in 2008.

Liverpool were earlier this week linked with the 31-year-old whilst Spurs are said to be keen on taking him back, but Villa could stand just as much chance.

Houllier would be able to offer the England international regular first team football, and he would also have no problems in finding £5million to take him from Ewood Park.
