Robbie Fowler could be heading to Preston North End Football Club.

The former Liverpool and Manchester City striker has spent the past two years in Australia, but he is now keen to return to his roots in the North West.

Preston boss Phil Brown has revealed he has spoken to Fowler, and the 35-year-old appears keen to join the club currently occupying bottom spot in the Championship.

“I'd have to see the lad, find out what the financial situation is,” he told the Lancashire Evening Post. "If he brings something to the party, then yes, it is a possibility.

“Robbie said the right things when I spoke to him - he is a businessman at the end of the day. But I've only had a phone call, I've not spoken to him face-to-face, and that's always key."
