Portsmouth Football Club turned down the chance to sign Geovanni last season.
The Brazilian was taken on a short-term trial by Pompey before joining Manchester City, and he has since gone on to become a huge hero for Premier League surprise package Hull City.
"Geovanni came on trial with us and played in a pre-season friendly at Yeovil Town," said Fratton Park boss Tony Adams, who was then assistant to Harry Redknapp.
"He looked good, scored a goal and was available but I think it was felt at the time we had enough in (that) position. Benjani and a few others were still here."
