Benayoun risks Chelsea fury
09:00 AM 14 March, 2011
Yossi Benayoun is eager to play for Israel in their forthcoming Euro 2012 fixtures.

The 30-year-old joined Chelsea in a £5million switch from Liverpool in the summer, but he only made three substitute appearances in the Premier League before being injured in September.

Benayoun suffered a ruptured Achilles but is on his way back to fitness, and the Blues have pencilled him in for a return when Stoke City provide the opposition on April 2.

However, it is believed the playmaker has told his Israel coach to consider him available for selection for the forthcoming internationals against Latvia and Georgia.

Luis Fernandez needs all the help having won just one of their four qualifiers so far, but Carlo Ancelotti may not be impressed with Benayoun’s eagerness to participate.
