Scunthorpe United Football Club hope to take Nicky Ajose next season.

The youngster is rated highly by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, who allowed him to link up with Alan Knill at Bury this season.

Ajose impressed during his time at Gigg Lane, and now in charge of Scunthorpe, the former Shakers boss is hoping for a reunion next season.

"Yes, we have made an inquiry about Ajose,” Knill told This Is Scunthorpe. "He is a player who we would be interested in buying, or having here on a season-long loan.

"But the decision is not ours, it will be a decision of the top football club in the world. But we are hopeful they will think we will develop him again - which we definitely will.”
