Liverpool Football Club are in talks to sign Alexander Doni.

Having missed out on Brad Friedel, Kenny Dalglish is now looking for a new goalkeeper who can provide back-up to Pepe Reina from next season.

Doni has dropped to third choice in the pecking order at Roma, and the agent of the 31-year-old Brazilian has revealed a move to Anfield is on the cards.

"I spoke to the club (Roma) yesterday and they confirmed they are holding talks with Liverpool to reach an agreement regarding the transfer of Doni," said Ovidio Colucci.

"Once an agreement is reached, we will begin negotiating personal terms with Liverpool. Doni would be very happy to join Liverpool and play in the Premier League."
