Arturo Vidal has emerged as a top target for Chelsea Football Club.

Andre Villas-Boas is eager to land a top quality midfield player this summer, and was so even before a knee injury threatened to rule Michael Essien out for the entire season.

Vidal is rated as one of the best midfield players in the Bundesliga, where he is under contract at Bayer Leverkusen until next year, and he has been linked with Arsenal and Juventus in recent weeks.

According to the Daily Mirror, though, the Blues hope to pip both clubs for the 24-year-old Chilean international, with a £12million bid being prepared ahead of the new campaign.
