Sunderland Football Club insist Michael Turner is not for sale.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move to Bolton Wanderers, who are still in danger of losing Gary Cahill to a bigger club before the start of the season.

Owen Coyle is said to consider Turner as a suitable replacement should his England international be sold, but Steve Bruce insists the defender is not for sale.

“There are players we’d like to move on, but Michael definitely doesn’t fit into that category,” the Black Cats boss is quoted as saying in the Northern Echo.
