Carrick: Manchester United can cope without Scholes
06:30 PM 01 August, 2011
Michael Carrick insists Manchester United can cope without Paul Scholes.

The Reds legend hung up his boots at the end of last season, leaving a huge void for Sir Alex Ferguson to fill in the champions’ midfield.

However, United have coped with the loss of big players in the past, and Carrick believes they will do so again following the exit of Scholes.

"When Cristiano Ronaldo left people said we couldn't replace him but you have to adapt. It is the same with Paul Scholes,” he said.

"You have to do it in different ways. We will certainly do that this season and hopefully we can improve on what we achieved last year."
