Newcastle United Football Club are lining up an offer for Grant Holt.

Alan Pardew wants to land at least one new striker before the window closes at the end of the month, following the £35million sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool in January.

And it is believed the United manager is interested in signing Holt, 30, who helped Norwich City reach the Premier League from the Championship last season.

The Canaries have already stated that the player, who still has two years left on his contract, is not for sale, but an offer of £3.5million may be too tempting to refuse.
