Arsene Wenger is happy Samir Nasri is, for the moment, still an Arsenal player.

The France international has just twelve months left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, and it is hugely unlikely he will pen fresh terms.

Nasri is said to be keen on a move to Manchester City, who were expected to wrap up a deal for the talented playmaker during the course of last week.

However, the 24-year-old appeared for the Gunners in the 2-0 loss to Liverpool on Saturday, and Wenger is happy that the former Marseille man remains in his squad.

"I always say I've tried to keep Samir Nasri. He loves the club, he wants to play for the club,” said the French coach. "At the moment I'm happy he's here."
