Roque Santa Cruz is close to ending his nightmare spell at Manchester City.

The Paraguayan international has been at the Etihad Stadium since the summer of 2009, but he has failed to make an impression with the Blues.

Santa Cruz is well down the pecking order under Roberto Mancini, who loaned him back to former club Blackburn Rovers last season.

And now the striker looks set to leave City on a permanent basis, as he heads to Spain to undergo a medical with La Liga outfit Real Betis.
