Aston Villa Football Club are the latest favourites to sign Emile Heskey in the New Year.

Rather than lose the striker for free when his contract expires in the summer Wigan Athletic are set to offload him in the January window, with a number of clubs showing an interest.

Manchester City, Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur and even former club Liverpool have already been linked with the 30-year-old, but Martin O'Neill is ready to move first.

The Villa boss knows he needs more options in his Villa attack if they are to challenge the Big Four this season, and he hopes to add Heskey to his ranks for around £4million.
