Queens Park Rangers boss: Barton is a winner
03:30 PM 24 September, 2011
Neil Warnock has hailed the impact Joey Barton has had on Queens Park Rangers.

The controversial midfielder was signed from Newcastle United on a free transfer in the summer, and he was instantly made club captain.

Barton has made an impressive start to life at Loftus Road, and Warnock feels the mere presence of the 29-year-old is bringing the best out of the other Rangers players.

“From our point of view, all I was worried about was bringing him in and changing a Championship team to a Premier League team,” he told Sky Sports.

"Whether you like it or not, he (Barton) has that influence around the place that if you're not a winner, you're not going to be around very long. He makes people realise that.”
