Steve Bruce would rather have Nicklas Bendtner in his Sunderland side than Asamoah Gyan.

Bendtner joined the Black Cats from Arsenal on a season-long loan deal in the summer, shortly before Gyan left to join Al-Ain on a similar basis.

Whether either deal will be made permanent remains to be seen, but given the choice, there is no doubt that Bruce would prefer the Danish international in his side.

“Bendtner or Gyan? Bendtner, who wanted to be here. Gyan didn’t want to be here,” he said ahead of the trip to Norwich City on Monday evening.
