David Bentley has set his sights on promotion with West Ham United Football Club.

The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Birmingham City, but he couldn’t prevent the Midlands club from losing their Premier League status.

Still out of favour at Tottenham Hotspur, Bentley is spending this campaign with the Hammers, another of last term’s relegated sides, and he has fixed his sights on promotion this time round.

“We have got to be confident," he told Sky Sports. "We have got good players with a lot of ability and we are looking to get promoted and automatic promotion is our goal.

"I have set myself a goal and this is going to be hard work and it will be an achievement if we can get West Ham back up in the Premier League and that's what my goal this season is to do.”
