Lassana Diarra could be handed a sensational return to Arsenal Football Club.

Arsene Wenger initially signed the France international from Chelsea in 2007, as part of the deal which saw Ashley Cole heading to Stamford Bridge.

Diarra featured just seven times in the Premier League for the Gunners, who sold him to Portsmouth for a bargain £5million after just one season.

The 26-year-old is now struggling to establish himself in the Real Madrid side under Jose Mourinho, who is prepared to let him leave in January.

Tottenham Hotspur have in the past been heavily linked with the midfielder, but Wenger could offer him a sensational return to the Emirates Stadium.
