Kazenga LuaLua could get a first-team chance in the near future.

The striker's impressive FA Youth Cup display against Oldham Athletic on Tuesday has seen him emerge as an option for Joe Kinnear as the Newcastle boss struggles with injury headaches.

LuaLua, 18 this week and the scorer of two goals against the Latics at St James's Park, told the Evening Chronicle: "I can celebrate my birthday very happily today.

"It was a really good birthday present, and a really good win.

"We just want to continue our progress in the competition."
