Newcastle United Football Club are running the rule over Sammir.

The Brazilian midfielder is plying his trade in Croatia with Dinamo Zagreb, having initially impressed during a loan spell at the club in 2006-07.

Sammir made a permanent switch to the Stadion Maksimir that summer, and he remains under contract until the summer of 2013.

However, it is believed Alan Pardew has had the 24-year-old watched in recent weeks, and he could launch a bid for the £7million-rated player in the New Year.
