Kevin Kilbane hopes to earn a new contract at Wigan Athletic Football Club.

On the face of it this would seem an unlikely outcome considering he is out of contract in the summer and has only started three games this season, but the 31-year-old remains hopeful.

“I don't know what my long-term plans are - there's been no contract offer or anything,” Kilbane told the Wigan Evening Post. "It's not particularly in my thinking at the moment.

“I'll just have to see what happens in the next few months.

“But I'm happy here, I'd like to stay."
