Darron Gibson could be set for Blackburn Rovers Football Club in January.

The Republic of Ireland international is out of contract at Manchester United in the summer, and no longer features in Sir Alex Ferguson’s long-term plans.

A move to Sunderland collapsed in the latter stages of the summer transfer window, but the 24-year-old is expected to move on during the winter.

And Steve Kean has identified Gibson as a potential addition to his struggling Blackburn squad, and is prepared to pay around £3million to lure the midfielder to Ewood Park.
