Harry Redknapp admits Tottenham Hotspur were keen on Connor Wickham in the summer.

The teenager is rated as one of the best prospects in England, and Ipswich Town were powerless to keep him when Sunderland tabled an £8million bid before the start of the season.

However, it could easily have been the case that Wickham ended up at White Hart Lane, as Redknapp admits he was also interested in taking Wickham.

"We kept looking at him. We watched him dozens of times and we liked him but we felt it was a lot of money for him," said the Tottenham manager.

"We have young players here like Harry Kane. He is a bit younger, we like him and we didn't feel we wanted to pay that money for Wickham."
