Martin Skrtel is delighted to see Steven Gerrard back in the Liverpool Football Club side.

The England international has endured a torrid time with injuries of late, but he left the bench to inspire a 3-1 win over Newcastle United last Friday night.

Gerrard is now expected to return to the starting line-up when Kenny Dalglish takes his side to Manchester City on Tuesday night, much to the delight of Skrtel.

“Stevie is special. He has been out for a while but he scored and showed how very important a player he is for Liverpool,” the defender told liverpoolfc.tv.

"He has given everyone a lot of confidence. We have a lot of games to play, just in January alone, and his return is a big boost to us. We are all happy to see him back."
