Harry Redknapp claims Demba Ba has a release clause in his Newcastle United contract.
When West Ham United were relegated from the Premier League last season, the Magpies took advantage of a clause in Ba’s deal and signed him on a free transfer.
The Senegal international has been in blistering form for his new side this term, with his goal in the 3- 0 win over Manchester United this week being his 15th in the Premier League.
According to Tottenham Hotspur boss Redknapp, who is full of admiration for the player, the 26-year-old has a clause in his contract which would allow him to be bought for a particular fee.
"They say there's a release clause in his contract, that's what we all hear," he said. "He's certainly done well and it will be interesting to see what happens, but at the moment he's doing great things for Newcastle."
Such comments are sure to anger St James Park manager Alan Pardew, who would hate to see a rival club meet any existing clause and take his star striker away from his squad.
